1. Introduction to Chitral Valley

Chitral, is also spelled, Chitrāl, Chitrār, or Qāshqār, town, northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan. Chitral valley is most visited place in the whole Pakistan. The Kunar River is flowing through near the Chitral valley. Therefore, it is also known as the Chitral River. The village is located alongside the Kunar River in a valley that is about two miles or three kilometers wide and 4,900 feet (1,490 meters) above sea level. In addition to the chieftain's fort, a polo field, and neighbouring fruit fields, Chitral also has a government woollen and sericulture center. It may be reached by a number of mountain routes and is connected to Peshawar via air.

2. History of Chitral Valley

The native citizens were altered to Islam in the 11th century. A significant portion are members of the Ismail sect. Prior to the 19th century, Chitral was a center for slave trade in the region. The local lingua franca is Khowar, the language of the Khos, the majority tribe. The Chitralis are skilled equestrians and top-notch polo players.

 3. Geography

Chitral is surrounded by Gilgit-Baltistan to the east, Swot to the south-east, China to the north and east, and the Afghan Wakhan corridor to the north and east.

Afghanistan's Nuristan and Kunar provinces are to the west. The province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Upper Dir district is located in the south.

Chitral is blessed with mysterious, tall mountains, lush valleys, attractive meadows, and massive glaciers. It was separated by more than 35 little valleys.

Terichmir, at 25,263 feet, is the highest peak in the Hindukush mountain range.No mountains here are lower than 4,000 feet, and almost 40 of them have elevations of 20,000 feet or more.

 4,900 feet above sea level is its elevation. 14,850 square km make up the entire area. Its coordinates are 35 and 37 N latitude and 71 and 22 to 74 E longitude.

 4. Important crops are raised

Tirich Mir, which rises to a height of 25,230 feet (7,690 metres), along with the fertile valleys and abundant pine trees, make up the area's picturesque surroundings. The Kunar River drains this area. The main crops farmed there are wheat, barley, corn (maize), and rice, along with walnuts, grapes, apricots, and mulberries.

Chitral is renowned for its stunning natural surroundings, the simplicity of its people, and its distinctive culture. It is the Hindukush range's most intriguing and endearing location.

6.Languages

There are 12 different languages that are spoken in the Chitral Valley. While speakers of various languages immigrated to the valley from adjacent regions and counties, some of these languages are indigenous to the valley. Because of the lack of certification, the majority of these languages are in grave risk.  The languages' names are listed below.

7.Education Statistics

In the age range of 6 to 10 years, Chitral (Lower and Upper Chitral) has the highest literacy rate in the KPK at 98 percent.. 

8.Climate

Warm summers and mild winters are characteristics of Chitral's moderate climate.With only 6 mm of rain, July is the driest month. The month of April receives the most precipitation, averaging 102 mm. July is the warmest month of the year in chitral valley.. July's average temperature is 26.1 °C. The coldest month is January, with an average temperature of 4.1 °C.
